i don’t understand why anarchy is against capitalism – i think it makes sense for the two ideas to go hand in hand, no?
i just read an article in the telegraph and now I’m confused as to why and how we must get rid of capitalism…it seems to be simply a lack of government intervention in the economy, right? Can anyone explain this to me, please :(

well, capitalism promotes a division of classes, the exploiter and the exploited. Capitalism doesn’t work if there is no one to exploit labour by capital, without that, you have a communal society based on subsistence thriving on the belief in universal equality—which happens to be a staple of anarchism. So, the two ideas are quite destined to clash, given that anarchy was born from the economics and politics of earlier capitalist orientated governments. You’re right, capitalism in and of itself wields no power, it’s merely an idea embodied by men and women, which is where the power ( and class struggles) come from. Whether transient power or eternal power, it’s power over individuals, a form of hierarchy that disagrees with anarchist theory, where again all are equal.

I’m going to disagree with Kent. There are some forms of anarchism called “anarcho-capitalism” which basically is pure capitalism in an anarchist environment. I haven’t given this strain of anarchism any thought since I’m uninterested in economy-central societies. But I could imagine how capitalism could thrive in an anarchist society (and this really is no stretch of reality):

Say government is abolished some how (I figure it will be a post-traumatic abolishment, ya know? Like nuclear holocaust or something that will decimate the majority of the population), and society on a community-level will continue. It’s safe to assume that anarchism in a small community setting would most likely be a direct-democracy in order to assure equal say in community decisions. And in a democracy, capitalism to a certain extent would flourish. Since there would be no monetary system, like our cash/credit system (which is bullshit, it’s fucking paper with dead men’s faces), so there would be a barter system. The barter system would ensure that no person could really have more than they needed, and that wealth would be more-or-less equally distributed – plus there would have to be a level of sharing and redistribution of wealth (probably voluntarily too) in order to ensure the health of the community.

Of course that’s an ideal system. But I would say that that would be a simple capitalist system in an anarchist community.

In an anarchist society, the police would be replaced by the benevolence of the community, such as through community watches and the like. The police state that we know was created as a tool to maintain, support, and enforce the law of the land. Since the law of the land is in the cases of industrial and post-industrial nations is normally monstrous, there needs to be a large, well organized entity to maintain, support, and enforce the laws and regulations set by the state. In an anarchist society, the necessity for such a structured form of enforcement would be unnecessary, thus a smaller force would be implemented.

The government is scared of revolution. All that has been done in the U.S. since the constitution was written has been aimed at quelling unrest. The Articles of Confederation did not work and led to social unrest and the leaders of the country met and decided that if they could create a document that could be changed throughout eternity. Adjusting their constitution when things are turning sour allows them to imagine ways to trick the masses into being satisfied when they really deserved more. That is the delicious side of the carrot and stick dealings of government with their subjects. All government is evil, and through their systems they teach the young about the failure of anarchic utopian societies. How will the masses ever find a voice?

Also, this is a bit of the subject, but I didn’t know where else to put it. I’m sure most of you know this, but swine flue and the vaccines, soon to come, are just a ploy, from what I hear. The vaccination will or wil eventualy contain a chip. That chip will become one world currency. In the not to distant future, you’ll be able to check out with that chip just by walking through the door. Eventually everyone will use the chip, if their plan works out, eliminating all other currency. Anyone who refuses the chip doesn’t eat. If anyone becomes resistant,after this, the chip is turned off!!! There you go… They’ll trick people into it at first. When they have enough of us, it’ll be easeyer too force it. The bird/swine flue and vaccine are B.S. Ocasionaly some strands of flue do get a little worse. It happens. Vaccine makes you more susseptible, later or to other strands/diseases. It’s all about fear and how they manipulate us with fear or false trust immediately following fear. Make sure you and your loved ones, neighbors, friends and even random people know this. That’s how we’ll stop this. Don’t laugh, if none of this comes true, it just shows we do our work! From the plan I understand, they want to force vaccinations and chips to all. We must resist and spread the word now, if we don’t want to be forced later. If it happens they’ll have complete controll and eventually complete enslavement of us.
