But it is nothing more than crass form of disagreeing with the organization of the religion of Islam.

However, I do think we should all give Islam a chance on a philosophical level. Although we do not have to believe it, we should at least understand the concepts the average Muslim man or woman believe in.

Good ideas have nothing to fear from scrutiny, and there is no harm at all in questioning the beliefs of others in their presence (except to you perhaps since we’ve seen how violently the faithful defend their illusions).

I believed in god right up until I was 13, embarrassing I know. The reason I say so is because I remember the feeling of being emotionally hurt when others said “bad things” about god. I now think that no belief which leaches off of the desires and fears of an individual the way christianity does should ever be left alone and not discussed or commented on. I wish I had met an anarchist when I was young and I wish that they had challenged the bullshit that I’d allowed myself to believe for so long. It might have pissed me off, and I might not have listened anyway, but in the long run the dose of reality would have done me good.

It’s been a long time since I’ve been on this site, mostly because it’s turned to crap. This is an “anarchist” site used to “educate.” Well, from what it’s been failing miserably.

If this was a real anarchist site, we’d all be a bit more respectful to those who believe in Islam, Christianity, Judaism, and the other religions. We’d also be a bit more respectful to the idea of there being a God. I know I believe in one, I don’t think there’s a correct religion or there’s a particular place we go after death or any of the other crap that’s been thrown around here. I know there’s a god and that’s it. Beyond that we have no idea. The writers of the different religious texts might have been thinking that these were the true words of god but if we take them as just literature, they’re some of the greatest philosophical texts ever written, and much more applicable than 98% of the other philosophies.

“real anarchist” — you don’t have to be an atheist. you can be a mono- poly- or pantheist and be a perfectly acceptable anarchist. it’s about living freely and in harmony with nature, and if anything there is a god in nature if we so wish to believe that.

i’m against impeding upon free speech, but the least we could do is be a bit respectful to others and not call their idols pedophiles and whatnot.
