Counter Blogging

14 01 09 - 00:32

« Know Your Enemy Pt.3 | Home | On Revolution »

The U.S government is currently employing 330,000 Air Force officers to lurk "insurgent" websites. They are lurking our blogs
with the mission to "counter the people out there in the blogosphere who have negative opinions about the U.S.
government and the Air Force,"-Captain David Faggard. The basic plan is to ensure the government is represented well.
Unfortunately this is a bias considering it is being done by a government organization.
They have created this flow chart (picture) to teach officers how to deal with comments in a wide variety. Comments in
the nature of trolling to truth telling and everything in between have certain protocol that is to be followed while considering
a response. And if I may say it seems quite the bit of effort was put into its conception. Really makes you wonder the motive
for putting so much effort and time into it.
What this all means for we internet folk is that posts that we make are being watched by the U.S government in an attempt
to change public view. So with every comment you make they have a response for you. Regardless of how right you are and
how evil this whole idea is, they have a prefabricated response. They are told to act as civilians so perhaps people will just
see a seemingly intelligent post and not think of the sinister plot beneath. This is much more than a bad way to spend
money or even a simple error in judgment on the Air Force's behalf. It is pure and simple arrogance. Our tax money is
providing a military organization resources to watch and moderate us on one of our last places of free speech.
This show of deviance and scoundrel-like behavior of American authority is but another example of a much too powerful
government. U.S government thinks it's the boss in charge, well last time I checked, it was the people that are supposed to
hold power in a democracy. So what possible use do they have for initializing this program but for reasons of treachery?
In the words of Harry S. Truman "Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition,
it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of
terror to all its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear." So here is my question to you, where do
you think American "democracy" is leading?

This is ridiculous, we’re supposed to be able to talk about the government how ever we want. But instead of battling real issues like… i don’t know, war, famine, terrorism they focus on blogs. Way-to-go USA!
Blak-Toothrgrin - 14 01 09 - 03:17

This is outrageous and IDIOTIC what idiots would “counter blog” are we in the 60’s and are we the Black Panther Party ?? well this shit is similar to the COINTELPRO but on a smaller scale but still this is simply stupid and where’s free speech?
Menace - 14 01 09 - 07:46

democracy degenerates into oligarchy. I think thats been the goal of the US government for decades.
AuthorityisSlavery - 14 01 09 - 08:37

“AuthorityisSlavery,” word!

Anyone read Plato here?
Winston - 14 01 09 - 08:45

330,000 Air Force officers? Might want to recheck your facts: there are barely that many enlisted and officers combined in the Air Force.

A.O.C. - 14 01 09 - 19:27

I did do a little research, and onezeno has a very valid point. The total Air farce equals 677,339. Of which 328,439 are active duty personnel, 74,000 are reservists, 106,000 are air national guard, and the remaining 168,900 are civilians. So as much as I do not doubt that big brother is watching us(and I’m sure it’s in much greater numbers) I do believe you have greatly exaggerated the number of Air farce personnel that are keeping tabs on us. Now if your statement was that the US government was employing 300,000 + employees to watch us that would be more believable. Also we need to remember we want to be able to use this information to wake the masses if we bring them lies and gross exaggerations what does that say about us and our cause? That we are no different than the liars running and manipulating them now.
projekt_mayham () - 14 01 09 - 19:29

Hello, officer! Nice day, yeah? :)
Harlequin/Steve () - 14 01 09 - 19:30

Agent, David Meerman Scott? Really? Why should I believe this guy? Thought Leadership and viral marketing strategist? I would believe this guy if he told me the sky was blue.
projekt_mayham () - 14 01 09 - 19:38

Projekt Mayham,
While i think this is A valid point It would seem quite evident to me that the Airforce may not disclose every thing on the internet websites. This is quite obviously controversial maters (the reason we are discussing it right now) and this may not be the portrayal that the Air Force wants. call me crazy but would this be the first time the Gov. has hidden info from the public?
[Asymmetrick panic] - 14 01 09 - 19:39

unfortunately articles like this on the internet are hard to be given any credit. but that article doesnt state officers were hired. it says “employs 330,000 communicators”
AuthorityisSlavery - 14 01 09 - 19:41

Panic,
I whole heartedly agree, I do believe they are watching, listening, and just plan spying on all of us.(thank you patriot act) But when exaggerated figures start getting thrown around and we in turn pass them off as fact I think it hurts more than it helps. Because you have the general population who is blind and just plan kept in the dark, if you try to tell them something like this that is more than likely just a simple exaggeration, why should they believe anything we say? My point being we need to becareful what we just blindly except as fact especially off the internet.
projekt_mayham () - 14 01 09 - 19:58

Well as the author i apoligize for any error in my article. It was a gross mistake and i suppose one must watch how they write. While i wouldnt beleive what the government figures are i can beleive that it seems a bit eccentric. And that is, in the end, what we are up against. The immediate “facts” versus what we anarchists feel is more truthful. But as i said before, we face public view and seemingly bloated figures will never help our cause. I welcome the criticism of this article and am glad to see the anarchist spirit of constant questioning is being adheard to.
WinstonSmith () (URL) - 14 01 09 - 20:21

I definately agree with you, It is counter-productive to believe anything you read off of the internet, especially when it comes to anti-government and conspiracy theories. that is why this site is excellent it provides an excellent mixing pot to really understand some confusing information. But I think both our points can co-exist. We can rationalize our numbers and still comment on the potential masses of others. As long as we don’t ignore or exagerate. Your’e point is extremely important and I think for our type of community to exist we must not be mis-guided otherwise we will simply be following a blind faith. Thanks
[Asymmetrick panic] - 14 01 09 - 20:22

You all deserve an apology. I miss understood the original post, as I’m sure onezeno did as well. What I believed it was saying was that the Air farce had set up a special group of 330,000 to montter blogs and such. I made a few calls to people on the inside and it’s much worse than that. This flyer/broucher is given to everyone in the airfarce. That is were the “employs 330,000” comes from. They want them to report on people they know through they’re own facebook/myspace/youtube etc. They are using the airmens own personnel and private time to spy own their own friends and family. This is even more disturbing!
projekt_mayham () - 14 01 09 - 20:52

Im just worried they are going to try and take the internet away from us or pre filter it so not everything gets through.
ps. Have you guys heard about the guy who got thrown in prison because he said he was going to kill the president on his myspace. So they are watching, at least know that. Too me the figures dont matter because if it is only ten people and all they do is surf the web and discredit conspiracy and what not, then they can still do alot of damage.
For the masses are sheep. I think they have are doing this to catch more people who say things like that man, or anything threatining nation security. Therefore I thinnk this site is being watched. But let us hope not.
This one - 14 01 09 - 20:57

UUUUmmm, If I go missin or somthin, you all know what happened, lol.

So projekt the facts are straight?
A.O.C. - 14 01 09 - 21:44

I believe the facts are to be straight. I believe, according to my sources, that I misread and misunderstood the original post.
projekt_mayham () - 14 01 09 - 21:55

The question is “so now what?” This is a problem concerning all anarchist sites…..Holy shit…..I think….Yup, I just had an Idea. What if we fliped the script on them. What if anarchists posed as members of the military online and went to their sites or forums just to stir up shit and promote doubt in thier system. Most anarchists I know and that are on this site could mentally trounce any fuckin jar head. We could state a bullshit branch, rank, M.O.S. then engage in political debate. Anyone with some degree of free thought may begin to question their own nationalistic views. Agent
A.O.C. - 15 01 09 - 02:47

projekt_mayhem
I know this flyer/brochure is not given to everyone in the Air Force because I am in the Air Force and I have never seen it before I saw this site posted on Reddit. I’ve never been told to spy on anyone, although there is a policy against what can be posted in blogs, myspace, etc. The Air Force is a very image-obsessed organization. This pamphlet is surely more about keeping up appearances than any very dubious means. I’m not saying that the Air Force does no bad, but there is no broad force-wide conspiracy to spy on everyone.

@A.O.C.
Don’t believe that everyone in the military is a brain-washed nationalist meathead. 9/11 is a topic that comes up time to time at work and I’ve yet to see anyone refuse to believe it could have been a hoax. It is a strongly circulated rumor here in the Air Force that we shot down the fourth plane. Also don’t forget all the money we sent to Ron Paul last fall. You probably aren’t going to fool anyone by pretending to be in their job. Go ahead, try to convince me you’re an avionics troop on an F-15. Even if you read all our tech data (and you couldn’t, some is classified) you’d have no idea how we really talk. The best way to get to troops is to provide solid evidence in an easy-to-digest fashion. A lot of troops have seen Loose Change, Endgame, etc. I never tell someone upfront that 9.11 was an inside job. I always ease them into. If they don’t want to talk about it I don’t push it. That would only fuel resistance.

@This one
You’re right, they are watching. If you want something to be kept secret, don’t digitize it.
onezeno - 15 01 09 - 05:13

A.O.C: your talking about posing as a member of the military. That is kind of a serious matter that, online or not, would probably not be taken to kindly by the government.

this one: If they do try and take away the internet or try and filter it, there is always making your own zine and sending it out by mail.

just putting in my two cents.
Blak-Toothgrin - 15 01 09 - 07:19

onezeno,

I’m not saying that the airfarce is telling its people to go out and spy. That would definitely raise red flags, because like you said you are not all brainwashed automatons, and some one would more than likely blow the whistle on that. But at the same time it is a subtle form of spying and brainwashing at the same time. They aren’t telling people to go out and look for us, but if they find us ( on myspace/facebook/etc), this is how to respond and counter and discourage any free speech they may encounter.

agent,

They are not told to seek our sites, this is for sites that they frequent. So as far as seeking out their blogs and pretending to be one of them is some dangerous ground. I’m not saying this out of fear, this would just be a fruitless effort. Like onezeno said we would never be able to disguise ourselves as one for very long.
projekt_mayham () - 15 01 09 - 08:41

after me they can spy up my ass all day they can look how i shit if they want i will plant cameras in my bathroom just for them what A.O.C is doing here is LEGAL what i am doing is LEGAL if they close this site or fuck whit it A.O.C must take action in legal terms and on the contrary if these agents appear on this or other websites we can clearly counter them whit a political debate even if these agents spread anarchists ideas just to make people doubt the government whats the deal for them ??? the people have the right to doubt whatever they like WE ARE TALKING HERE ABOUT BASIC FREEDOMS as i said we are not in the 60’s anymore even if they want to bring them tactics back but we aint
Menace - 15 01 09 - 09:40

Alright, it was a spur of the moment idea. Scratch posing as one of them. But that does not mean we can’t go to thier forums and provide some oppositional politics. I just figure, what is good for the goose is good for the gander.
A.O.C. - 15 01 09 - 15:12

I dont know what a zine is so if you feel like explaing that then I will listen. But my latest idea that has been punching my brain is to start my own Newspaper. And that is the best I have come up with. But I like using the internet better.
This one - 15 01 09 - 18:56

it is like an Underground magazine with sick stuff like poems, articles, drawings, and other stuff that you want to add in.

H.K, this world is beautiful, it’s the people that run it that make it a prison.

Blak-Toothgrin - 18 01 09 - 11:55

Seriously?
Holy hell man, that throws my thoughts of freedom of speech right off its axis. It makes you wonder if the freedom of speech was ever there to begin with…
AnArchistic Hippie - 18 01 09 - 17:41

oh im sure it was. A.A.H it has just gotten so eroded by the sad and oppressive times we live in. The problem is that the government has way too much power. Everything is either with them or in control of them so nothing at all stops them. They can publish all sorts of “facts” and we have little else to go on because independent research is extremly hard if it is put in opposition of government or if it is extremly under-funded because of a lack of grants. Its the theory i have that like what if everyone started saying and honestly beleiving Amerika was 500 years old rigth now. This and all the books were altered like in the book 1984. If the information isnt there then it doesnt actually exist. It is never a war on your rigths, its a war on information.
WinstonSmith () (URL) - 18 01 09 - 21:37

let me tell u about our so called “freedom of speech.” its all an illusion just so that we stay out of the government’s hair. they could give a fuck less about what we say,and its easy for then not to care because they’re sitting there with the power and what you say doesn’t really change anything, the real meaning of american freedom of speech is that u can say what ever you want and you can speak out against the government but the condition is if u say something in a way that actually influences people against the government they will hunt your ass down a take you down when no ones watching. and if u don’t believe me listen to tommy chong’s story and look at what the government was doing and who they were trying to take down during the 60s.

so this is to the government.
[mumrah] () - 27 01 09 - 18:59

SMITE ME YOU COWARDS!!!!!!
[mumrah] () - 27 01 09 - 19:00

mumrah you pretty much hit it dead on.

We’re living in a shit time, whats even worse is that most people play it off like
everything is fine when people are dying and starving in most parts of the world.
Blak-Toothgrin - 27 01 09 - 21:11

While I completley agree where you’re going with this, I just wanted to state a few things. First off there are not 330,000 officers in the Air Force, I think you have already established as much. Secondly, the U.S. is a republic, not a democracy. The Pledge of Allegiance actually states “One republic, under god….” therefore the government is meant to be a superpower. Republic, as you obviously know, is the rule of the state. What happens when a government, especially a republic, is questioned? Why revolution of course! Praise the lord and pass the ammunition one might say. I, most ecstatically, agree.

A Republic is a system of government in which rule is supposed to be given to the people. Democracy is a particular type of a republic. While this is America’s technical calling card, we are more of a big party hierarchy where the rich become a ruling class.

I’m getting really f***ing tired of americans. I’m tired of them getting fat while children are dying.
Sorry, i’m just ticked today.

http://wwa.afpc.randolph.af.mil/demograp..

Air Force Personnel Statistics

2008 Total Officers and Enlisted 322,604

Now, do we believe what the military has to say… well, everything is suspect, but at least when we give a stat out we should site the source to give a shread of credibility to what we are trying to relay.

The problem with giving out wrong or poorly researched information is then the entire idea becomes suspect.

If you start out telling a lie, then why should we believe anything you have to say after the lie? The rest may be true, but there is no reason to believe it. You have lost credibility.

This is one way that the enemy spreads misinformation, and instills doubt in order to create chaos within a movement.

Like the truth isn’t bad enough?

Even an old washer woman like me thought those numbers were totally insane. Not for the entire government, the whole military, but just the air force?

Come on, are we so anxious to get our point across that we just come up with really big numbers and think, well that will get some attention?

After all, we are sheep and easily led….say it enough and we will believe it….
laundrymystress - 21 03 09 - 13:33

Yeah man. The rich and powerful have decided that they can do whatever they want to keep the thinkers silent and the idiots on their road to corporate and government brainwash. This is just another outlandish abuse of power and a way to keep the people silent.
