Riot Control Tactics
The tactics used to control riots in the past were simple -- they were based on the fact that the police were almost always better-armed than the rioters. The tactics they used basically consisted of forming a line and charging into the crowd. Today, the police are still well-armed, but tactics have advanced significantly.

When a riot is in full swing, police will deploy in a square formation with a command team at the center. The command team is protected on all four sides by echelons of troops deployed in groups of 10 or 12 officers. There is also an arrest team at the center of the square.

This tactical unit is very mobile and able to adapt on the fly to changes in the situation. If a threat suddenly appears behind or to one side of the unit, then the echelon facing that direction is designated the front of the unit. The entire team can then change the direction it's facing without a lot of maneuvering. Also, the echelons can cover each other when the team moves to take advanced positions. If the unit is under attack, the whole team does not move together: One echelon moves while the others provide covering fire or an actual physical screen (with riot shields). Then another echelon moves up into position.

The echelon is not meant to be an impenetrable wall of cop. In fact, the riot squad often leaves an escape route to let rioters run past the squad. The officers can adopt a passive position, in which they spread out and leave several yards between each officer. The crowd can then easily filter through them. If a particularly violent group moves toward the officers or they spot specific suspects they want to arrest, they can quickly close the gaps and form a tight line.

As the unit moves forward into a crowd, it will prod and push at anyone who doesn't respond to orders to move away by the time the front echelon reaches them. If they still refuse to move, the unit continues moving forward, but the front echelon opens up and passes around the protestors. Once the protestors are inside the square, the unit stops, the front echelon reforms and the arrest team processes the rioters. When they're done, the unit can continue moving.

Once more, a critical adition to our cause provided by AOC. There’s some material that I never knew before you covered it here. Thanks man, understanding this tactic is benificial to our rioters. Post more if you got ‘em.

Very interesting. I’d never seen a diagram of a tactical units formation, or read as to how they move and function. More articles like this would be very helpful, well, informative in the least.

Yes we certainly must know our enemy, but honestly if noone dies the riots will most likely be in vain. What are we going to do knock them out, and tie them up(not too bad an idea)? Throw rocks at them? Knock over cars and burn them, What im asking is, how can we when a fight that has no refferees, no ring, and no rules without killing?
I have spent a while searching for a peaceful solution, and havent found one(tho the venus project is promising). And I shall continue searching for one, I call it revolutionizing revolution. Even Thomas Jefforson said, every generation must have a revolution, soaking the floor red with the blood of the patriots, and the blood of the tyrants. I would glady spill my blood if it meant a better world for the living. Where everyone can obtain peace of mind, and freedoms blows as swiftly as the wind. Where the weak are not oppressed and the word poor has no meaning. And then you have to ask yourself, Is a revolution realy in the best interest of the people? I say yes, but the majority say no(democracy?). And if you really want to know the hopelessness of our cause, look up the weathermen underground and see what they have accomplished.(quite alot). As William Cooper said we have to know the weapons our enemy uses or we shouldnt even be on the battlefield. I beleive he was speaking metaphoricaly of course; and at the same time quite literal. Now that I’ve quite obviously pointed out that the glass is half empty I would like to say, I believe there is hope, I beleive there will be sacrfifices(on both sides), I beleive the revolution will be aquired. And I plan on being apart of it, we are not alone and truth is on our side. We must ressurect an army that has been dead since the end of the samurai. In order for a dream to become a dream we need dreamers, in order for a dream to become a reality we need beleivers. I beleive.
And to answer your question yes I think you should continue to post this very useful and insightful information for us warriors to exam. And thankyou, for your coragous contributions. Goodluck comrades. Until we meet on the field, peace.

Guys it’s time to act, I’m tired of everyone sitting here on the forums, we have to gather masses and show them the evils of the goverment. It’s time for a new revolution. This post is very helpful along with many others on here, we know their tactics and their reasons, what is stopping us?

I believe fighting against police and government using ink for independent of humanity is best like the way you do. I am not so good in English language but bloodless revolution is better than any revolutions in the world. All Governments and all pro states are also a citizens of the world and they are also humanity, why you don’t try to write a topic about the real anarchy. Imagine a world without wars but only love where the world can sing all kinds of songs, and where we’re going to sing brother. I know it hard to sing, because we don’t know the tune and the tune we’re going to sing where the rainbow end?. Make way for bloodless revolution, make way for man, make way for brotherhood.
