Food Prices Soar, Where Did The Food Go?
17 04 08 - 07:57THE rising cost of food is being felt around the world, by the poor especially and, in turn, by politicians. Greater demand from China and India as more people switch to rich diets is lifting prices, which had been low for some 30 years. Last week the prime minister of Haiti resigned in the face of a mob angry at the cost of food, while the Philippines made hoarding rice a crime punishable by life imprisonment. The price of wheat rose 77% in 2007. Since January the price of rice has jumped by 141%. But growing more food takes time, and as the land available for production has decreased, governments and farmers must look to improve crop yields.
Truthfully, there's more than enough food to go around in this world, although it's all being consumed by the gluttony-driven obese trend in the West and is being hoarded by the rich. Also, having such a wide-scale "free food" program by the UN oft times makes the country in question too dependent on the food shipments, and has decreased their own food production in expectation of someone handing it to them on a silver platter.
Anarchy is about being independent as individuals and self-sufficient as a people, so grow your own food and develop your own land instead of relying on others to spoon feed you.
