Television: An Anarchist Perspective
16 02 08 - 10:32
Imagine if you will that you are trapped inside of a dream world that is controlling you from seeing the truth, imagine that this state of mind is in all respects like being "plugged in" into a world designed ultimately to keep you in fear. Imagine also that the vast majority of people today are "plugged in" and are being programmed to become materialistic, consumerist, god-fearing and above all mindless, factory-made, cookie-cutter citizens that will pay their taxes and ultimately fall in line. This is the reality that we are now facing, manifested in the fascism of television. With each television show intended to teach you how to live your life and ingrain morals and ethics into your brain and blatant commercialism to train you to become a zealous capitalist consumer, TV is the epitome of the fascistic system to enslave you and your life. We need to liberate humanity, at least our selves, from this tyrannical slaver and ultimately become freedom fighters against our oppression. Truthfully, watching TV is the loneliest thing any human could ever do; you're sitting there Friday night, alone in your own enclave with your only human contact being with fictional constructs that don't even exist! It is these people who are so blatantly socially retarded and can't seem to fathom that we're still human and therefore we need real human contact in order to remain sane, independent and above all, still human.
Thus the true Anarchist believes that they don't need to be told how to live; they don't need an indoctrinating pacifier that works to make us something we're not. We're here to live our lives, not theirs; we're here to live by today and tomorrow, not in some fabricated dream world.
And yet after all that said, people continue to watch reality TV, Survivor, soap operas and American Idol. Why? Do these people have anything better to do? The answer is no; these are the people who have no lives, they have no beliefs, they have no purpose other than to be raped by the system in order to harvest their little productivity in the name of some totalitarian State.
It is in this light, comrades, that I dare ask you to liberate yourselves from oppression, unshackle yourselves from the chains of consumerism, and ultimately free yourselves from dependence on the government and the media to tell you what to do.
Therefore comrades, I bade that you get out of your homes, play a sport, go running, get together with your friends, take up a hobby, and ultimately build up your social life. Humans didn't evolve to live as hermits; we developed into a social, interactive, and interdependent species who can interact with each other without being told how to do so.
